In the summers I teach and perform at the Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival (GMCMF) in Burlington Vermont. The festival is noteworthy because of its heavy emphasis on individual study. Four “sacred” hours each morning are reserved for individual practicing. Afternoons are devoted to chamber music and evenings are usually spent at concerts and occasional master classes. During the four week session each student receives six individual lessons and six coachings for each ensemble in which he or she participates. For some students this can be a life changing experience and for others a wonderfully productive way to pursue their instrumental and artistic development. Many students return for additional sessions following their first summer. If you live driving distance from Eugene, Oregon and you are interested in attending the GMCMF, I would be happy to hear you play and talk to you further about summer study at GMCMF.
